Cesar
Chavez was an American farm worker, labor leader and civil rights activist,
who, with Dolores Huerta, co-founded the National Farm Workers Association. His association helped form Unions through
boycotts and strikes.
Joan
of Arc, nicknamed "The Maid of Orléans", is considered a heroine of
France and a Roman Catholic saint. She
helped lead her army to victory during the Hundred year war. She was brave beyond that of most warriors in
her army and she had the respect of all the men who served under her.
Articulate,
passionate and a naturally gifted and inspirational orator, Malcolm X exhorted
blacks to cast off the shackles of racism "by any means necessary,"
including violence. Describing himself as the “angriest black man in America”,
Malcolm rejected Martin Luther King‘s non-confrontational approach and
mocked King’s March on Washington (August 1963).
